Liposuction
Plastic surgeons have come to expect most of their patients to request liposuction surgery as their first cosmetic surgery experience. This surgical procedure is able to offer good results to the patient in a very short period of time, and the results are noticeable by all. The full results take aroun3 months to take complete effect, but depending on how much fat was removed, the results will still start to become impressive in a couple of weeks. The surgery itself will be performed while you are under anesthesia. There will be a couple of small incisions made in the area and the doctor will use a wand type instrument to break up the fat deposits. He will actually cause the fat to look like Swiss Cheese, then the areas of fat that are to be removed are suctioned out of the body with a small hose tubing. The incisions that are made are about 1″ or less in size. There usually is a mild to moderate amount of bruising over the entire area that was worked upon. The surgery itself is done as an outpatient. After the surgery is completed you will recover from the anesthesia and be allowed to go home. If a small area was involved, you may be fine in 2-3 weeks, but usually the healing process takes 2-3 months. You will be back at work after several days to rest. Because liposuction cost is not covered by most of the insurance companies, you will have to pay the entire amount of the surgery. Cost of this procedure can vary but is generally $2-3000. Patients consider this a small price to pay for their results.
